Values of Light

The picture above is a picture of my piggy bank. I went into a dark room and shined a light from the right, creating a harsh shadow over his face.

In this next picture, I took a rose and put it above a light source. It created a beautiful silhouette with absolute blacks, whites, and a variety of grays. 

In this picture I did the same thing as I did with the piggy bank. But instead I held the light father away which created a lighter picture with softer, but still dramatic shadows.
